I have gained confidence with my mentorship at Guilford Immediate Care. I know now that the dream job that I want is in healthcare. I have gained the confidence to know what I am good at in the healthcare field. There are some things in healthcare that I will have to practice in order to get better. I also learned that getting adapted to the health care is difficult, but by getting a real world experience it helped me know the career that's right for me.
Sometimes I was allowed to scan documents in the computer, and helped with vital signs. There were other times that by just going in a room was a patient was enough to learn something new. I also learned to look up medicines and know some of the most common doses that are given. There were times that I didn't understand things, and would ask about different procedures. There were some nurses that guided me through every step during a treatment. Also some patients that allowed me to go into room while having a procedure done on them.
This mentorship has helped me prepared for the future by giving me the insight of the career that I want to pursued. I know now more than ever that nursing is the healthcare field that I want to work in. The mentorship gave me the opportunity to see different aspects of nursing that need to be seen in real life rather than reading about them.
I want to be a nurse more than ever. I now know that nursing is the career that I would be best at. Nursing is a very competitive field, but I know that I can do it. I am going to be a great nurse because I will enjoy everything about it.
I would recommended the Honors Mentorship Program for anyone who wants to explore a career. I know that reading about a career isn’t enough to determine that is your dream job. HMP made me realize how important it is to more about the career of your dreams. Many students make the mistake of hating a job after finishing college. I am now more confident that nursing is the right career for me.

I used to be a bad speaker, but through practice I have become a great speaker. I didn't know how much people hate speaking. It's difficult, but if you know the subject it's easy. I will keep a good posture while I am talking. My voice will be loud enough for my audience to hear me. I will also practice a few times in the mirror before presenting.
I am going to look at people and engage them with facts. In my presentation I will provide my audience with a visual presentation to view while I talk. I will make my audience want to know more about the effects of caffeine on health. The presentation will be engaging to my audience because all of them are eager to know about caffeine. I will also not used note cards to remember ideas, but used them for practice only. I will do my best when I present and hopefully my audience will learn about my topic, caffeine. There will be images to provide visuals in my presentation

March 2
In order to follow a career path of
someone at my internship, I would need to have a degree in the field of
nursing. I want to hopefully achieve a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and then
pursue a graduate’s degree in nursing. I would need to learn how to communicate
with different types of people. In my mentorship we also have different types
of people. There are some that are rude and just want trouble. There are others
that are nice and cooperates with the nurses. I need to learn how to handle any
situation in the work place. I also need to learn all the materials. I know
that even nurses at my work place something used cheat sheets in other to
remember all of their information. Nursing is a competitive field that needs
newbies to stand out from other nurses.
I enjoy seeing patients, but don’t
enjoy doing paperwork for excessive periods of time. Triaging a person is easy
and enjoyable. The paperwork is ok for a certain period of time, but for more
than ten hours it’s overwhelming. I also enjoy seeing different people with
various symptoms. The idea of helping person is the number one interest for me.
It helps me to know that I am actually doing something that might save a life. I
know that am going to have to get used to the paperwork, and will try to do my
best. It’s a skill that I am going to have to learn to get used to.

Week of 2/2
This week has been rough with many things to do, and such little time. I have been gathering information for my research project. There have been so many articles/flyers that have been showing up pertaining to caffeine. My research question has changed three times since the beginning of the school year. One of the requirements of this assignment is to have three annotated bibliographies. Two of my bibliographies pertain to caffeine and the third one doesn't. I have worked on getting caught up with all of my classmates. I have also did research on finding what tools to use on the day of the presentation. I want to be able to show people the benefits and the effects of caffeine. I am not trying to say that caffeine is bad to the body and nobody should consume it. The message that I am trying to convey is to inform people the right amount that is appropriates for our bodies.

Comments:
More studies need to be conducted on the effects of energy drinks on the human brain. I really feel we are going to see long term changes in the brain caused by overuse/ abuse of energy drinks/ supplements.

CAFFEINE PROJECT
I personally love to drink coffee in the morning. There is no difference for me between decaffeinated and caffeinated. I always taste them as the same thing. But is it? No its not. The amount of caffeine that is in various drinks affect our health. I am interested on how much it affects our overall health. Also teach other people how much caffeine should be consume in a day.
My question had changed from being a nurse and why. Also the communication that goes on with doctor and nurses.
My new question: How can I modify my caffeine intake and communicate others about the effects of caffeine on health?
I saw this cool diagram at my dentist office about how much sugar is in popular drinks. I might do a diagram/display of how much caffeine is in various drinks. I am also planning to give handouts giving more information for people to remember. I am going to have a presentation piece that will help people be more engaged (prezi). I will have visual facts to explain people about avoiding different types of drinks.
I am very excited to find out about how much caffeine a high school student takes. As to the amount of caffeine a teacher intakes. This would be a great survey to help me get a feeling of how much a person intakes in one day. There are many forms of caffeine and different types of people who consume it.
